This race debuted in 2013 with over 200 entrants. Ten-year-old Wesley Haws surprised the field by winning the race in 19:24. Linda Hatfield (20:51) was the female champion.

The 5K is the first event of the afternoon beginning at 4:30 pm. The Kid’s 100-yard Dash starts at 5:30 pm.
Registrants in the 5K mile can register either as a competitive or recreational entry. Competitive entrants will be issued a chip, will receive an official time, and be eligible for awards. Recreational entrants will not receive an official time, but they will be able to see their finishing times on a digital clock at the finish line.
The entry fee for the 5K is $30 if registered by September 9th and $35 thereafter up to and including race day. The fee includes a tech shirt t-shirt – guaranteed to all those registered by September 9th. After that date, it will be “as available.” Shirts will be in both men’s and women’s sizes.
The entry fee for the Kid’s Dash is $5 and includes a t-shirt – guaranteed to all those registered by September 9th.
For a family (defined as a maximum of two adults and maximum of two children) that wishes to participate in the Recreational 5K, there is a special entry fee of $60 ($70 after September 9).
In the 5K, awards will be presented to the first three male finishers, to the first three female finishers, and to the top three finishers in each of the following age groups (both sexes): 10-under, 11-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, and 65-over. There also be awards for best costumes.
Late entrants can register and pre-registered entrants can pick up their packets at Omega Sports (time and place TBA) before the race or on race day at Waverly Place in front of the fountains starting at 3:30 pm. Omega Sports is located at 314 Crossroads Blvd, Cary, NC 27518

Event: 2014 Inaugural Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon and Half Marathon Raleigh
Event Information: The Rock ‘n’ Roll Raleigh Marathon is now part of an international series of musically themed marathons and half-marathons, uniquely combining entertainment and running into a 26.2-mile block party. The marathon will feature live bands positioned on entertainment stages along every mile of the scenic course, interspersed with cheerleaders and themed water stations. The running experience is topped off with a finish line concert featuring a major headline act. The Raleigh race promises a scenic destination event for runners and walkers of all abilities, showcasing the charm and beauty of the “The City of Oaks.”
